Meet Ben Pokorny!

Sprious’ new Customer Success Representative introduces himself in his own words

Who I am

My name is Ben Pokorny. I am the youngest of four kids. I may not look the part, but I was born and raised on a farm outside of Weston, Nebraska that had many cows, chickens, sheep, pigs, and even a few horses. As a young kid, instead of the usual babysitter, I spent my time sleeping in the back of tractors or combines.

From Kindergarten to 4th Grade, I was the only kid in my class and went to a school with a whopping total of 9 kids. It had one teacher, Fran Vanek, and one librarian who we called Libby. It was a 2 story old brick schoolhouse where my brothers, sister, and even my dad went to school.

I graduated high school in 2009 and attended Southeast Community College to get my general education since I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. After working odd jobs from here to there, especially being being involved with customer interactions for most of my jobs, I ended up getting a job as a support representative at a medical software company after applying 5 different times. I think they finally caved and said “at least give this guy an interview”. That is how I got into the field I am in today. I have loved being involved in the tech industry – be it software, hardware, IT, etc.

My Experience

I initially started at my last tech job as a support representative. In less than a year, I moved from support to our Electronic Medical Records team and had the privilege of custom making medical forms for offices and doctors. I was able to express my creative side by custom creating form templates with different form elements while making it cohesive and easy for patients to fill out, while also keeping a professional look for a hospital or doctor’s office.

From there, we ended up partnering with a third party software which was a web-based EMR application. I was selected to be the sole representative for this software. During this time, I became quite familiar with HL7 (Health Language 7) messages and learned how to deconstruct and read them.

After 2 years, I moved to our QA Department and fell in love with this position. Here is where I got involved in the software development life cycle at its core and worked in an AGILE environment using SCRUM ideology. I was able to garner experience manually testing, regression testing, systems testing, and security testing along with IOS and Android testing for our web-based software we were working on.

What I do at Sprious

I am proud to say I am one of our Customer Success Representatives who makes sure our customers get the assistance they need at the time they need it. I am also super happy to say we have recently added live chat to our support so our customers can get a quick resolution to any problem they may run into! Other duties that fall under my jurisdiction are any research that needs to be done for future customer service projects and some slight QA work like creating test plans for future checklists. I am excited to be apart of a growing company and can’t wait to see where Sprious will go in the future.
