Sprious’ new Administrative Assistant introduces herself in her own words
Hi, my name is Elaine. I’m on the administration team at Sprious, where I work with all of the different departments to help keep information organized and moving efficiently. I enjoy getting to complete the different projects we are working on. My favorite thing we did recently was creating gift bags for The Center for People in Need. I also help the people operations team as Sprious continues to grow and expand. I definitely feel like I learn something new everyday here at Sprious, and it’s been a good challenge that helps me to think in new ways. I’m learning that I can do things I thought I wasn’t able to do.
I am fairly new to Lincoln, Nebraska. I have a bunch of family here, and it’s been nice getting to connect with the side of my family that I don’t get to see often. If only COVID wasn’t here, I would get to spend more time with them. I moved here from Houston, Texas. The biggest adjustment has been getting used to the weather. Surprisingly, it hasn’t been that bad so far. I’m staying bundled up in my down parkas, even on days when I see my neighbor in a t-shirt! I did enjoy getting to see our first snow in October since it’s been years since I’ve seen any snow.
In my free time I enjoy staying active, traveling, playing fantasy football, and hanging out with my dog Maggie. Maggie is a Shih Tzu mix, and I adopted her a few months ago from the Humane Society. She has a loud bark, but she is a sweet little dog. I recently joined the YMCA, and have gotten to swim laps. I was on the swim team growing up, and I love being in the water.
Last year I decided to take up scuba diving. It was totally out of my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I did it. I got to go diving in Mexico and see some of the most beautiful things. Before jumping in the water, I was a bit nervous, but it was totally different as I descended down. There’s something so peaceful about being at the bottom of the ocean. It’s been a fun and interesting experience, and I’m looking forward to when I can go on my next dive.
